About the design

This site was made in 2026, but its simple layout and early-web styling are intentional. It was designed to feel at home with the personal websites where many of these ghosts first appeared.

The Classic Ukagaka Ghost Index is an English-language, independent catalogue of ghosts from Ukagaka’s formative years. It exists to help English-speaking visitors recognize the characters, understand where they came from, find surviving authorized downloads, and discover carefully documented English translations when they exist.

Why 2000–2007?

This index concentrates on ghosts first released-or independently documented as existing-from 2000 through 2007. The boundary keeps the project focused on the early culture and artwork rather than attempting to catalogue every later development. Later updates and authorized redistributions still belong in a classic ghost’s record.

Sources and uncertainty

Dates, names, credits, images, and downloads are accompanied by sources wherever possible. Original creator pages and packages are preferred, followed by contemporary indexes, archived pages, and clearly identified preservation sources. Conflicting or missing details are marked uncertain. Japanese names include romanization when the intended reading is documented.

Artwork

Artwork is central to recognizing a ghost. Record pages therefore show an official image when one survives, or a clearly credited historical screenshot when it does not. Captions identify the image’s origin and any display-only processing, such as hiding an old shell’s transparency-key color.

Downloads

This site links to original or authorized distribution pages whenever possible. It may also preserve a package when its redistribution terms explicitly allow mirroring. Preserved copies are labeled separately and retain their source, permission basis, filename, size, and checksum. Packages with unknown or restrictive terms are not mirrored, and rights-holder removal requests will be honored. Availability does not mean that old Windows software is safe or compatible with a modern computer.

English translations

The index distinguishes official or creator-permitted patches from unofficial fan translations and machine-translation tools. “None documented” means that no attributable English edition is currently listed.

Independent project

This is an independent historical catalogue. It is not an official Ukagaka, SSP, MATERIA, ghost-author, or character-rightsholder project.
